History: IMPASSIONED SPORTS PROTAGS!!!!!!!!

Personality:
You know that guy you went to highschool with, the one who everybody remembers only because they're that guy everyone loved? But nobody can remember their name, or their face, or anything except for how good and nice and sweet they were? And maybe they were kind of badass sometimes... Yeah, that's pretty much Tetsuya Kuroko in a nutshell. Though, of the lives he's touched, none have forgotten his name. So, really, take everything else and then just add the fact that he has deeply impacted every person he's ever met... Right. Nutshell Kuroko: inspiration with legs. So now that we've covered that.

Kuroko is singularly passionate about his interests. Be that a reference to basketball, or to his friends - if he cares about something or someone, he pours his all into it. Not only that, but he shares his passion with his friends. He finds ways to motivate and speak to them in a manner that reaches deep down to their core and brings out the best in them. His passion and his drive are the most prominent traits he exhibits. He doesn't really have natural athletic ability, so he makes up for it with endless perseverance and work ethic, brought about by his love and his passion for basketball.

See, for Kuroko, the sport in and of itself is enough to love. Playing at all, playing with his friend especially, is what he loves. That isn't to say that he lacks ambition; he doesn't, but he's more ambitious for his whole team than he is for himself as an individual. Winning is only marginally important to him, and only because he wants to see his teammates, his friends, happy. His desire for his friends to be happy comes from the fact that he is fiercely loyal. He will defend his friends, even against their own forces of will (and, if he says so himself, total misunderstanding of the world around them and their own potential). He doesn't mince words, and if he thinks someone falls short, he's not afraid to tell them. He doesn't do it in a mean way, or out of spite - he wants to help them better themselves. He cares about them. He does this with Kagami; he acknowledges Kagami's talent, but he also lets Kagami know that he - at his level when they first meet - can't touch the Generation of Miracles. He wants Kagami to be better than the generation of miracles. He wants Kagami not to become the self-centered monsters the Generation of Miracles became. Deep down to his very core, even if he isn't sugarcoating anything for anyone, Kuroko just wants the very best for, and of, everyone he cares about.

Because he's pretty damn selfless. He goes through endless amounts of emotional strain on himself, swallowing it and shouldering it, just to try to reach people. The Generation of Miracles is a perfect example of this. Even though they all go to different schools, even though Kuroko is their opponent in games, he always tries to reach out to them. He remembers fondly when they all began playing, before they started to steamroll the rest of the basketball world as a formidable team. Back when they just played to play together. It hurts him to see where they've changed; not for himself, but because he wants them to be happy again, and he can tell that they aren't. He hates to see them self-destructing in the way they are. And even after all of the hurt they've caused him and bad blood between them, well...

Kuroko is very forgiving. He doesn't turn them away when they return to their former selves - when they come back to basketball, instead of being drunk on their own ambitions. He is a very calm and harmonious person by nature, and he likes to be surrounded by similar harmony. He believes very deeply that forging bonds and interacting with people is the most important and healthy thing someone can do for themselves.

Although his misdirection often lends to him being invisible in all situations, sometimes this is better for him. He's been late to practice a time or two and he's used the fact that no one ever notices to get away with it. It's said that he takes after his mother - both his looks, and his invisibility. He's naturally quiet... He rolled a natural 20 on stealth, and he doesn't seem to mind it much.

He's pretty relaxed and even-keel, easy going, even, most of the time, also. He is incredibly gentle and polite, and is naturally given to handling others in a tender, passive fashion. Even when someone is making him uncomfortable, like when Momoi throws herself at him and consistently says he's her boyfriend even after he repeats multiple times that he isn't and has no desire to be, he is honest without being cruel.

There are few times when he gets truly angry... And those are usually times when someome has hurt his friends or teammates. He does tend to get irritated if someone makes fun of his height or tries to talk to him or treat him as if he is a small child... But it's nothing compared to the anger he feels when someone hurts his team, or tries to. Kuroko is never, ever seen as truly angry until someone he cares about and trusts he has been hurt. One of the members of the Generation of Miracles even makes an offhand comment about not pissing Kuroko off. He's a little bit scary. He's the kind of angry that sneaks up on a person. Quiet, controlled, but deadly.

All in all, Kuroko is an optimistic person who wants the best for everyone around him. He pours his all into the things, and the people, he loves. He always seeks to find the answer to problems so that the people he cares about can be happy and have the best possible experience, and become the best possible versions of themselves.

Abilities:
NAT20 ON STEALTH

Nah. But. Okay. So, in Kuroko no Basuke, there is the illusion of actual magical superpowers as the players go about their business during games. In reality, they're just highly talented teenage athletes. However, each important character has their own specific subset of skills and "abilities"; they even have names/nicknames (not unlike Michael Jordan's "airwalk"). Regardless of whether or not these abilities are actually ~*~*superpowers*~*~ (they're not), I'm going to outline Kuroko's.

The first thing you really need to know about Kuroko's abilities, however, is that they're not really... Based in physical power. As far as raw athletic talent goes, Kuroko is fairly lacking.Kuroko is weak, he's slow, and he's not really all that talented at all. But he perseveres in a way that's really unheard of in a group full of naturally talented athletes who don't have to work that hard for their strengths. That said, according to his chart, his stats are 3/10 physical ability, 5/10 technique, 5/10 stamina, 10/10 mental strength, and 10/10 special ability. Perhaps the most defining factor in all of Kuroko's abilities is that he has no presence on the court. He can go completely unnoticed, almost as if he's invisible, because he's so completely unintimidating. With that in mind, let's... talk about his "named abilities". Those non-superpower-powers, as it were.

MISDIRECTION; Kuroko's most universal ability is his misdirection. When he decides to put himself out into the visible areas in games, he forcibly makes himself known. He makes a point of making eye contact with the opponent he's trying to distract. Even if it's just for a split second, if he makes contact with this opponent, he directs their attention to him instead of the teammate of his that they previously targeted. He forces opponents to either look at him or look elsewhere from other players or the ball and he... basically is just kind of like that thing you see out of the corner of your eye that distracts you just enough for you to veer your car off the road. He can perform a number of logic-defying steals and passes to his teammates in this manner. Speaking of passes. Pretty much all of the rest of his abilities are different stupidly overpowered passes.

Strap in, folks, it's gonna be one hell of a ride.

INVISIBLE PASS; Kuroko stands around the court at points where he's not noticed and steals the ball from the middle of other teams' passes and gives the ball to his teammates. It's impossible to know when or where he'll decide to use this, because it varies based on the positions of his teammates and opponents. It almost always leads to a basket, though. He barely touches the ball; it's called a "tap pass", really. That's how it's so successful. He is essentially a ricochet point.

ACCELERATION PASS/IGNITE PASS; Kuroko basically uses the heel of his hand to kame-ha-me-ha the ball to his teammates. He punches that shit extremely fast across the court. This is like the level up from his invisible pass. He never directly grips the ball when this pass is what he chooses to use. He just sort of slams into it and directs it toward his chosen teammate.

IGNITE PASS KAI; This is just like the ignite pass, except he twists his arm and his wrist and basically makes the basketball become a giant baseball. This is one of the abilities that, in animated form, looks like a giant laser. It's not a giant laser. It's just a really stupidly overpowered basketball.

CYCLONE PASS; After a score by the opposing team he takes the ball and pretends it's a discus. I'm not kidding. I wish I were kidding. He spins around super, super quickly and then the ball just casually blasts across the court. In canon, someone mentions that it is similar to a famous baseball outfielder's "laser beam" move. It's all the power of a curveball behind the size of a basketball, and it's honestly pretty ridiculous.

VANISHING DRIVE; This is, possibly, Kuroko's scariest and most interesting move. It is also, arguably, his most imporant. He basically uses the slight size of his body and lack of presence to, even when he actively has the ball, disappear from his opponent's eyesight and pass them when dribbling the ball. He is incredibly perceptive, and he holds the dribble, watching his opponent for a moment when they blink. And once they blink, he ducks into a spot that is just out of the field of vision for that player, ducking down and around them quickly to pass the ball to someone who can actually make a shot. He doesn't do this alone, however. Kagami, the light to Kuroko's shadow, draws Kuroko's mark's attention for a fraction of a second. That's when they blink, and that's when he strikes.

MISDIRECTION OVERFLOW; Misdirection Overflow is basically an upgrade of his regular misdirection; however, it's kind of also the yin to its yang. It is when, instead of directing attention away from himself, he makes himself present on purpose, and draws attention to himself, and away from his teammates. He deliberately "runs out" of misdirection. This means his teammates can use vanishing drive, BUT!!! This move has a (somewhat) fatal flaw. It can only be used at the end of the game. He can't keep it up for too long. His opponents catch on, and it 's over. When he uses it, he doesn't just reveal himself - he reveals the technique behind the move. It can only be used once in a match.

PHANTOM SHOT; Kuroko isn't a great shot. He's a pretty terrible shot. He really can't do much besides pass, at least until Aomine teaches him. But then he tells Kuroko to learn a shot on his own, one special to him. In comes Phantom Shot. It's not based on his power or his ability to actually hit the basket; no, not at all. But phantom shot is his ace in the hole. He uses his palm to shove the ball forward, instead of just up. This causes the ball to be shot at a low angle, instead of sailing over the opponents' head. Kuroko fires rapidly from the chest. His opponent's field of vision is lowered, so he sends the ball very quickly into the basket, while they can't see it. It's pretty intense sleight of hand for basketball. The downside to this move is that if an opponent steps back from Kuroko and puts some distance between them - that is to say, if he isn't right up close - they can see it, and stop it from happening.

QUASI-EMPEROR EYE; Akashi Seijuro, Kuroko's middle school team captain, has an ability called the "Emperor Eye". He can see all possibilities of, and predict, his opponents' future movements. Kuroko's emperor eye is similar, but it comes from being perfectly in tune with his teammates, who he trusts and is bonded with, and who trust him. Instead of predicting the opposing team's movements, Kuroko can predict the movements of his teammates, and react accordingly. His prediction is actually stronger than Akashi's because of the trust he and his teammates share, and he can perceive their future movements further than Akashi is able to. This move is actually how the deciding moment of the final match of the Winter Cup tournament came about.

KAGAMI/KUROKO ALLEY-OOP; Last, but not least - the tagteam alley-oop. Kuroko intercepts an opponent's pass, punches the ball to the ground toward the basket, and Kagami jumps high into the air, catches the ball as it ricochets off the court, and slam dunks it. Boom, shaka laka!!

( bonus ) FRIENDSHIP!!!; This isn't really a special power or ability but, as mentioned in his personality section, Kuroko has the power to overcome obstacles by thrusting the idea of friendship and strength-as-friends into people's minds.
